Events and key dates at Atelier Art Classes & The Corridor Gallery
New teachers starting:
We welcome Dr. Kay Kane to the Atelier . Kay was until recently the President of the Royal Queensland Art Society, and has recently retired from a long career as a popular no-nonsense and very knowledgeable teacher at the Queensland College of Art. We expect her classes to fill rapidly, and pre-booking is advisable.
Kay will be teaching on Monday afternoons from 1pm-4pm. 7th November 2016 onwards.
We welcome Gerry O'Donnell to the Atelier. Gerry has recently moved to Australia from Scotland. He studied academic drawing and painting at the Edinburgh School of Realist Art. Academic drawing and painting has been making a huge resurgence in the USA and across Europe in recent years. As far as we are aware, Gerry is the only teacher in Australia who has the direct experience and expertise to teach using the tried and trusted 'Bargue method' - used extensively in such prominent schools as The Angel Academy in Florence, and the New York Academy of Art. This is an opportunity unique in Australia to study the methods developed in France during the 19th Century.
Gerry will be teaching on Monday evenings from 6.30-9.30pm. Early 2017 onwards.
The Corridor Gallery:
Jean Claire Martin - 'Navel Gazing'. Photographic and audio installation.
October 15-November 5th.
Jean Claire Martin is an undergraduate student at the Queensland College of Art. This exhibition represents a departure from the usual type of show one might expect to see at the Atelier. Please note: The Audio component of Jean's installation will only be available on opening night or by arrangement.
Meet the artist & opening event from 6.30pm Saturday October 15th.

Steven Gallagher - Early 2017.
Steve is a new studio tenant at the Atelier and will be opening our programme of exhibitions for 2017 with a remarkable set of paintings. Entitled '100 rescues', the exhibition will feature many recent works that have been commissioned by animal welfare groups. Each work is a portrait of a dog that has been rescued, and is awaiting re-homing.
