Upcoming Workshop: Keith Dewell June-July 2014

Keith Dewell is well known teacher of drawing, painting, and anatomy. He teaches at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, and has been a regular teacher at the MacGregor summer and winter schools in Toowoomba. Keith also teaches numerous workshops throughout Queensland and New South Wales.

Keith will be offering a workshop over four Saturdays. The workshop will offer the student an opportunity to use a systematic approach to painting from life, which will explore tonal relationships, working from the general to the specific.

Over the course of the four sessions you will paint several pieces from the figure, emphasising the qualities of each shape, and its tone.

By the end of the workshop sessions you will have learned how to simplify, and work systematically through your paintings.

The workshops will run between 10.00am and 4.00pm with an hour for lunch from 12.30pm. There are a good number of food outlets close to hand, or bring your own lunch. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.

The workshop will take place at the Old Bomb Factory, the home of Atelier Art Classes and Salisbury Studios Queensland Incorporated, whose studios are situated at Unit 2b/9 Chrome St. in Salisbury, a fifteen minute drive from Brisbane's city centre. Free on-street parking is readily available.

Please be aware that these workshops would not be suitable for beginning artists.

Materials:

The Atelier will supply easels and donkeys. No tables will be made available. If you prefer to use a donkey, please let us know when you book your course.

For the workshop we suggest that you bring your usual preferred range of oil paints and equipment. The canvas size and quality is up to you, but 60x40cm or similar should suit most people. A small range of colours will be available for purchase on the day, at competitive prices.

Bookings:

The workshops take place on 28th June, and 5th, 12th and 19th July

The four Saturday workshops cost a total of $256.00. Places are limited to twelve paying students for all workshops. Your place can be secured by emailing us at info@atelierartclasses.com whereupon we will provide our bank details so that you can make the appropriate bank transfer. Alternatively, we accept cash, and have EFTPOS and credit card facilities at the studio. A 50% deposit or full payment will secure your place.
