Biography

Ryan began studying Fine Art as a high school student at the Balmoral Arts Academy (Brisbane), under Christine Kirkgaurde and Kay Kane.

In 2000 he moved to Sydney for a full time education at the Julian Ashton Art School.  A Scholarship and love for the school kept him for seven years in Sydney. While at JAAS he began teaching as part of his scholarship, becoming a rostered teacher after this apprectiship.

Ryan was awarded the 2008 AME Alice Bale Art Travelling Scholarship, judged by the 20 Melbourne Painters. This funded a five month tour through 8 countires in Europe plus USA, studying in galleries. While in Florence, he studied sculpture in a 1 month intensive course at the Florence Academy of Art.

On returning to Australia he entered a residency at Sculptors Qld, and now works as a full time artist/ part time teacher.
