This painting course will focus on:

- Tone, Colour and the creation of light

- Modeling 3D Form/volumes in paint

- Edges and the structure of light

- Composition and design, including linear, tonal and colour design

Basic Painting will cover:

- Tonal drawing/painting with charcoal to begin to understand light

- Setting up your palette and other practicalities 

- Tonal painting using only raw umber

- Tonal painting using mixed opaque paint (monochrome)

- Painting a single toned object on a single tone background

- Painting objects of three different tones on a simple tone back ground

- colour and colour mixing.

- colour of light and influence on local colour

- introduction tonal and colour composition

Intermediate painting:

- Representing Textures 

- Brush work

- Painting process

- Simplification

- More advanced modeling of form

Advanced Painting:

- Advanced compositional considerations : dissonance, harmony and contrast, considerations for selecting subjects
